THE FABULOUS “BUDDY CURTESS & THE GRASSHOPPERS”
Buddy Curtess & The Grasshoppers first formed in 1983 and quickly became known for their incredible live shows, with Time Out naming them ‘Best Live Band’ for two years running.
Tours followed with Roy Orbison, The Beach Boys, The Cure, Bad Manners and The Stranglers to name but a few. Playing over 250 gigs a year including The Prince’s Trust at Wembley Arena and
the main stage at Glastonbury in 1986 (with a live Radio 1 broadcast), which has been featured again recently as part of BBC 6 Live ‘Sounds’.
The live performances attracted attention from TV shows and the band appeared on The Tube, Saturday Night Live, Jools Holland’s Hogmanay, Razzamatazz, Saturday Super Store and were the resident band for Ruby Wax’s Don’t Miss Wax on Channel 4.
Record deals with Gyrate and Phonogram records saw the release of Hello Suzie, Shout and Shoobee Baby as singles, which reached the UK charts.
They are back together after a 30 year sabbatical.
